WRITE YOUR WAY IN

Crafting Essays That Admissions Offices Love

A lot goes into the admissions process, and a lot of it is out of your student’s control.

But the essay is within their control.

Your student can’t go back in time and start ballet in time to become the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, nor can they control how many pre-med students the dean tells the admissions office to admit. But they can control how good, insightful, honest, and original their essay is.

The college essay is the one part of the college application a student has control over.

What goes into a successful college essay?

The student’s voice is the most important part of the essay. Admissions officers don’t want to read another generic, faux philosophical essay about service projects or a cliched essay about how the death of a beloved pet taught a student how to live. These have been done so often--and so poorly mostly--that they almost guarantee a rejection.

A great college admissions essay is original. And it is about the most unique part of your student: the unique person they are. Showing who they are and what matters to them, written in their unique voice and style counts makes a better impression than any singular accomplishment. It is its own accomplishment!

There’s no reason it needs to be overwhelming when you have the right support by your side. I've empowered dozens of students over the years with their essays, in a friendly, stress-free process. . .

Will your student be next?
